I hope others get some benefit or enjoyment out of what I have produced. In short, I converted this adventure and others, because I enjoy doing it. I haven’t written anything on the level of the love letter Goodman Games has published to these old modules and I am a big fan of what they do.
The keep on the borderlands 1st edition mod pdf series#
I own the Goodman Games original adventures reincarnated series and think they are wonderful! DMs Guild does not allow for more than a “streamlined, bare-bones guide”, so that’s what I’ve written. Digital maps are also included at 70 DPI ready for use in virtual tabletop environments. Notes about skill checks and mechanics are updated for 5e and stat blocks for new or original monsters are included in an appendix. This conversion guide refers to existing monsters by book and page number. I’ve been encouraged, so I keep converting old modules both as a passion project and because others seem to enjoy them.ĭMs Guild allows for a conversion of old modules that are “streamlined, bare-bones conversion guide for someone who already owns the classic adventure (i.e., encounter-by-encounter conversion notes with any 5E stats needed, leaving out all other content…)”. Folks have been kind enough to provide some feedback and pick a few copies here and there. I have posted them at DMs Guild hoping the conversion guide and or maps are of value to anyone. I have also laid out the conversion guide in a manner I find most helpful. It scratches that gaming itch when I cannot game. It is a very interesting and enjoyable way to pour through old publications from days gone by and re-connect with them. I have done quite a few 5e conversions, primarily because I enjoy writing them. I realize this is only $3, but I have bought enough $3 products by now that could have instead gone to something I would have actually used. See more makes it different than the other products out there? I am less interested in the maps, since I go old style and use time keeping rules for mapping out a dungeon, which the players are responsible for drawing. You think the maps you created are a significant improvement/value.Ĭould you explain a little bit as to what your conversion approach is and what. You don't think the Goodman Games version is close enough to the original so a simple straight conversion is better in your opinion.ĥ. You made this for people who don't want to buy a huge $40 tome of a book to play B2 in 5E.Ĥ. You wanted to improve upon the conversion done by Goodman Games and thus created your own.ģ. You made this for people who already own the original module and just want a conversionĢ. What I can't figure out is why this conversion was created.ġ. However, Goodman Games has made an official conversion called "Into the Borderlands" which has the original module and the 5e module in a huge tome of a book. If the only 5E conversion out there for B2 was the "Classic Modules Today" version, I would understand why this conversion was made.
